It has been a while since I’ve posted as I’ve been having issues with my back. Three weeks ago I has surgery and hope to be cooking and posting in ernest by the end of August.
In the meantime here’s a video I recorded back in May and just got around to editing. The Mint Julep is a great summer libation and of course the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby.
A Mint Julep needs to be served ice cold and to assure this crushed ice is traditionally used. I had a great ice crusher that I got a garage sale for five bucks and used once a year for Mint Juleps. It no longer works and had a hard time crushing my ice. The blender I used was uneven and I lacked the patience to crush the ice in smaller batches. I have since obtained a Lewis Ice Bag. When my back is feeling better I’ll smash some ice to show you how it works.
